Roboreptile- Out-the-Box Project

For this project we had to choose a toy to make in 3D and make the render look the same as the original image.

Bar Pepito - Location render

A few weeks ago we had to go out and look for a location to build in 3D. I chose Bar Pepito which is near Kings Cross Station. I have never been around this area before and as I was walking by, I thought it would be a good place to create in 3D for this project.
Lighting was retouched and plants where added in Photoshop. Everything else is 100% Maya. Textures where edited in Photoshop and Mudbox.

Podracer Render

I finally finished my podracer! The texturing took the longest. Especially since I used 4K texture maps. Surprisingly, it only took 5 minutes to render the beauty shot at 1080p. This time I animated the podracer moving so I could let Maya do all the motion blur work for me. I'm really happy with the results. I wanted the final render to be 100% Maya but I had to composite the shadows in Photoshop.
AO render.

Table Render

The render only took 5 minutes but setting it up the right way took a whole day. If I have time before the deadline, I will probably add a wall and some more fancy stuff to it.

Shark and Tron Bike Renders

Finished rendering my Tron bike and Shark. The shark is 100% rendered in Maya, whereas for the Tron bike, I added motion blur and lens flare in Photoshop to make it look cooler.

EDIT: I added blur and chromatic aberration to the shark in Photoshop.

Uni Work Update!

I know I haven't posted up here in a while but that's because I've been really busy with university work. Here's a link to my 3DHit work thread. I've been posting a lot of my work there for feedback. I kinda forgot about posting my work on this blog. I'll try and update this blog weekly from now on. Now back to work, here's a bunch of stuff that I've been up to.

Tron Bike test render
I think I might use Nuke to add glow to my final render.
Here are two test renders I did for colour. I immediately went with the second one since it looked like it was from the movie.

IMAP Complete

So for one brief, we had to create an IMAP (information map) to show that we've done some research before creating the essay. I didn't really find it interesting at start, but because I found out about Prezi, it was suddenly more entertaining since I was making something that I've never made before. I had to do research on "Do video games tell stories?".
